While Sustainable Mobility Week is taking place from 16 to 22 September, new departmental cycling projects will contribute to reaching the objective of the County Council of Val-de-Marne to reach 9% of bicycle trips. by 2030.

These projects mark the desire to encourage the development of active modes of travel that do not pollute and to make cycling a useful and efficient way to get around on a daily basis.

Three new cuts will be resorbed

The Department learned on 14 September that three of its bicycle development projects were winners of the "Active Mobilities" call for projects and would thus benefit from financial support from the State. These three projects will restore cycling and pedestrian continuity by facilitating the crossing of urban cuts that constitute rivers, highways and railways.

  • The experimental cycle facilities of the Mandela bridges , connecting Ivry-sur-Seine to Charenton, will thus be maintained and connected by a ramp to the right bank of the Seine which will greatly facilitate the crossing of the Seine and the motorway. A4 by bike.
  • The project to create a footbridge-cycle bridge Pont de Nogent will receive additional funding to help meet the additional costs announced by the state last April. This new funding, in addition to the Department's participation, makes it possible to calmly consider the financial closure of the second phase of the project.
  • Pierre Sémard Street (RD101) , linking Limeil-Brévannes to Bonneuil-Sur-Marne, will be equipped with a greenway that will facilitate the crossing of the RN406 and the railways in this sector strongly constrained by the importance of car traffic and heavy goods vehicles. In addition, this future greenway is part of the "Daily Bike" project of the Department to remove the barriers to employment by developing infrastructure and services dedicated to cycling.

The development of the bicycle to lift the brakes at work

During the permanent commission of 16 September , the County Council, laureate of the Île de France Region's call for projects "daily bike", has adopted a convention to facilitate access by bike from home to areas of jobs. Sheltered and secure parking spaces for bicycles will thus be created in the "Petits carreaux" business area, on the port of Bonneuil and in five social housing residences managed by Valophis Habitat and located in Valenton, Limeil-Brévannes. , Nogent-sur-Marne and Champigny-sur-Marne. Bike routes, including Pierre Sémard Street (RD101), will be improved and staked to facilitate and secure the cycling link between the homes and employment areas of the Port of Bonneuil. In addition, actions to promote the development of cycling in the city will be implemented (auto repair workshop, school bike, etc.).

Investments for alternatives to the individual car

These bicycle development projects are part of a global strategy for bike development that also relies on the development of key services such as secure parking, Véligo rental, school bicycles and other bicycle repair shops. Alongside these actions, the Department is investing to develop public transport through, for example, the construction of the T9 tram, the Altival own-site bus, the Téléval urban cable car, etc.

Since moving is a burden on the household budget, the Department devotes substantial resources to public access by reimbursing the Imagine R card or by providing mobility assistance to retirees and the most vulnerable groups .
