Entrepreneurs en Action du Québec, Parents and Business Leaders Have Filed an Appeal Against the Legault Government.
Québec, 21 décembre 2020 - This morning, “Entrepreneurs in Action of Québec (EAQ), business leaders from various sectors, including gym owners, and parents filed a lawsuit seeking the nullity of decrees declaring the health emergency in Quebec. In addition, this procedure aims to declare that the current measures are unconstitutional, as a whole or alternatively, taken individually.
"Since last March, Quebecers have suffered, to varying degrees, attacks on their physical and mental health, not from a virus but from political decisions. The infringements also affect several fundamental rights guaranteed by our Charters," stresses Benoit Girouard, spokesman for the EAQ, who will also act as a parent in this appeal.
"The comments of Dr. Arruda in recent weeks, confirm that Prime Minister François Legault, by imposing the closure of companies that were not targeted by the Director of Public Health, has turned himself into a health expert which he is not," adds Samuel Grenier, spokesman for the EAQ and restaurateur who joined the appeal.
International experts, particularly in public health, virology, and economics, have completed an expert report which has been filed in support of the legal arguments presented in the lawsuit prepared by the plaintiffs' lawyers Jean-Félix Racicot and Mr. Guylaine Lacerte.
"If we are turning to the courts, it is to reestablish a real notion of public health in Quebec. We cannot harm others, especially between generations, in order to correct the shortcomings of our health care system. I will be satisfied only when Quebec has a group of experts capable of managing pandemics with measures and a collective vision of the health of Quebecers," said Benoit Girouard, spokesperson for the EAQ.
Funding Now that the appeal has been filed, EAQ is relaunching its fundraising campaign that began at the end of November and is calling for the financial support from Quebecers, in order to lead a legal fight against a government with unlimited means."We want to have the means to carry out this request n order to ensure that the right to health and constitutional rights of Quebecers are protected," said Samuel Grenier, spokesman for the EAQ.
Co-applicants There is still time for anyone who would be interested in joining the above-mentioned appeal and being part of it. To do this, you must first contact EAQ to get the useful information and then be directed to the right resource.
In our appeal,we therefore wish to create, as quickly as possible, a governance that would take into account the collective aspect of public health, to the benefit of 8.5 million inhabitants, and to put an end to measures contrary to constitutional rights.
EAQ is 2000 SME grouped together in 2 months.
