Press Release: LA Maison de l’Île d’Orléans Awarded – Best Sea View B&B and Travelers' Choice Best of the Best 2024.

St-Jean-de-l'Île-d'Orléans, February 21, 2025 - For the 2024 season, a tourist cottage on the Island of Orléans has earned excellent ratings on major platforms recording customer reviews. In addition to the enviable results of 9.6/10 on Booking.com, LA Maison de l'Île d'Orléans is one of the few cottages in Quebec to have received the "Best of the Best" award at the TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Awards 2024, as well as the "Sea view Bed & Breakfast of the year 2024/2025" from the UK Travel & Hospitality Awards guide. The owners are celebrating this great achievement. In just four seasons, this resort has carved out a special place, notably thanks to its original concept. Their secret: they focused on an often overlooked aspect of Bed & Breakfast establishments by offering a very special breakfast in the morning.
An initiative that pleases
Indeed, when carefully reading the collected reviews, the comments specifically mention the quality of the breakfasts offered by LA Maison de l’Île d’Orléans, and many mention the numerous surprises that this experience entails. The idea didn't come out of nowhere; it was carefully crafted in the head of Yves Blanchette, the house chef, over a decade.
"It is true that our house has many assets: a pool, lovely rooms, and a magnificent view of the St. Lawrence River. But we had to stand out, as there are many beautiful tourist establishments in Quebec. Yves then made it his challenge to restore the nobility of the first meal of the day. To do so, he designed a five-course gourmet breakfast - different each morning for the duration of a stay - for a clientele that not only enjoys good food but is also willing to savor it blindly," emphasizes Sylvie Lavoie, partner and communications manager.
This chef is amazing!
For Yves, cooking has always been a passion. Today, he fulfills a dream and thrives at LA Maison de l’Île d’Orléans. In his retirement, he remains active by bringing happiness to the guests who stay there through food. He draws inspiration from the great chefs of Quebec and Europe. His raw material, his protein: the soft-boiled egg.
"I had to do a lot of research to create 'The Love Nest' inspired by the young star chef Julia Sedefdjian from Paris or 'The Flavor of the Woods' by chef Gilles Gougeon, owner of the Vieux Puits - three Michelin stars. All this with the sole aim of spreading joy. That's what I try to do with my gourmet breakfasts with an Orléans flavor. Personally, I delight in all these joyful faces and delighted taste buds," says Yves Blanchette, resident chef.
About LA Maison de l’Île
Completely restored in 2020, this ancestral and vacation residence, built in 1881, is part of the heritage treasure of the Island of Orléans. Three generations of women, born Lachance-Lavoie, have succeeded each other as owners of the place. The cottage has three rooms, one of which is intended for people with restricted physical abilities. As he reveals to his guests right from the start, Yves Blanchette was born in a restaurant. His grandfather - a self-taught chef - was the originator, in 1952, of the first family restaurants offering spit-roasted chicken "Chanteclerc BBQ" in Sorel. His father also operated such establishments. However, despite his family background, when he was starting his career, his entrepreneur parents dissuaded him from following that path. That's why he's only just beginning his career.
