The Table Action Abus Aînés Mauricie is presenting the 2nd edition of the Mauve Event

Shawinigan, May 17, 2024 - The Table Action Abus Aînés Mauricie is presenting the 2nd edition of the Mauve Event, on the occasion of the World Day for the Prevention of Elder Abuse, which will take place on Friday, June 7th at Espace Shawinigan, located at 1882 rue Cascade, Shawinigan.

Since 2011, the UN has proclaimed the World Day for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. This day aims to raise awareness, denounce, and intervene to counter this reality. It is also an opportunity to promote respectful treatment and to highlight all the resources available to this clientele.

Under the theme: Pour y voir plus clair, l'Événement mauve (To See More Clearly, the Mauve Event), participants will take part in a series of preventive and informative activities related to abuse and respectful treatment. The event will be held under the honorary presidency of Ms. Louise Lacoursière, a writer from Shawinigan, who has published more than 14 literary works while actively involved since the early 2000s with various organizations.

To conclude, a colorful musical performance will be offered by the group Les Dynamicks.

On-site, several support and prevention resources for seniors will be present to promote their services. Participants will receive free meals and snacks, and will also have the opportunity to participate in a door prize draw. Admission is free, and the event is open to seniors, professionals working with seniors, and the general population of the Mauricie region.

Furthermore, this event is offered in collaboration with various organizations and partners, including CIUSSSMCQ, AFEAS Région Mauricie, Équijustice Centre de la Mauricie/Mékinac, Le Carrefour d'action bénévole du Haut St-Maurice, Le Centre d'action bénévole le Trait d'Union, l'Association québécoise de la dysphasie Mauricie/Centre-du-Québec, and the ITMAV program of the Maison citoyenne des familles de Shawinigan.
