Firefighters from the Gatineau Fire Department (SSGI) were honored last Sunday as part of the National Firefighter Recognition Day.

(Translation by Google) Gatineau, October 7, 2019 - Firefighters from the Gatineau Fire Safety Service (SSGI) were honored on Sunday as part of the National Firefighter Recognition Day. The Government of Quebec, through the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Public Safety and Minister responsible for the Quebec City region, Geneviève Guilbault, awarded 39 honourees, including three SSGI members.

● Firefighter Kevin Murphy received the Medal for Meritorious Service. 
The Medal for Meritorious Act honors a member of a fire safety service who has demonstrated outstanding leadership or surpassing themselves in an exceptional intervention.

● Lieutenant Christian Mongeau and firefighter Marc-André Pilon were awarded a Recognition Citation. 
The Recognition Citation honors a person who facilitated the work of members of a fire safety service during an event requiring their intervention.

● The three firefighters were honored for their excellent work during a rescue on the night of July 15, 2018 at 156, rue Archambault.

Lieutenant Mongeau and firefighters Pilon and Murphy made a joint intervention to rescue a lady who was stuck on the 3rd floor of a burning building.
